ATLANTA – St. Thomas suffered its first loss since 2015 on Sunday when the Tommies bowed to Minn.-Duluth, but the defending champs still easily held onto its top spot in the Under Armour MCLA Division II Coaches poll.
St. Thomas accumulated 19 of the 24 first place votes this week, ceding the other five to Concordia-Irvine, which again was ranked second. In all, the Top 7 spots in the poll remained the same as Week 7.
Duluth was rewarded for its monumental upset by jumping five spots to No. 8, giving the powerful UMLC four programs in the Top 8.
Western Washington and Louisiana parachuted out of the poll this week, making way for the PNCLL duo of Great Falls at No. 23 and Montana at No. 24.
