ATLANTA-  After putting in strong performances between the pipes over  the weekend, Santa Clara’s Ryan Rosselli and College of Idaho’s Brogan Rice have earned MCLA PEARL Goalie of the Week honors.

Rice stood tall in the net for the Yotes as they faced Montana State and Western Washington and got two ranked wins.  Across the two games Rice made 20 saves while allowing 11 goals.  Rice’s performance helped propel the Yotes to an impressive weekend showing.  College od Idaho Coach Drake O’Neill said “Brogan has been a wall between the pipes for us the entire season, especially this past weekend. He brings confidence to the backline of our defense with his strong communication and high energy personality.  Against Montana State and Western Washington he continued to do what he has done all year for us and put on a show.”

Ryan Rosselli has been manning the pipes for Santa Clara all season and the Broncos held Cal Poly to their lowest goal output of the season before falling in overtime.  Rosselli racked up 19 saves while allowing only seven goals and was key to the Broncos’ upset hopes.  Santa Clara head coach Manny Rapkin said, “Our base defense is built around Ryan's ability to save the ball. Our transition game happens because Ryan makes all the tough saves without going to the ground. He is the leader in our clearing game. The complete goalie.”

For their efforts, Rice and Roselli will receive PEARL swag bags which include PEARL balls, the official ball of the MCLA.
