PHOENIX, Ariz. -- Four-time Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) All American Carson Barton (St. Francis Xavier Prep/ Edmonton AB) was selected by the Calgary Roughnecks with the 51st pick in the 2015 National Lacrosse League draft held Monday at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre in Oakville, Ont.
Barton, a three-time captain at Grand Canyon University, scored over 350 points in his collegiate career. As a senior he led the Lopes to the Southwestern Lacrosse Conference championship and the 2015 MCLA national championship. For his postseason efforts, he was named 2015 MCLA Tournament Most Valuable Player.
Barton went from the championship directly to Coquitlam B.C., where he started his first WLA season for the Adanacs, Barton recorded 15 goals, 14 assists and two game winners for Senior A Coquitlam. Barton is currently employed by Elite Player Development, and is doing his student teaching at Chaparral High in Scottsdale, Ariz.
