PHOENIX -- Austin Ekeroth buried a low shot in traffic with 10 seconds remaining, giving No. 9 Grand Canyon a dramatic, 14-13, victory over top-ranked Colorado on Friday night. The game was a rematch of last year's MCLA Division I championship game and provided as much excitement as a tournament contest.

With some solid defensive play and an uncanny ability to convert in unsettled situations, Grand Canyon (2-1) built a 7-3 halftime lead. With help from junior Joe Balestrerie (3g) and Drew Dziadyk (3g), the lead ballooned to 11-4 early in the fourth quarter and Colorado (0-1) looked like they might get run off the field.

The Buffaloes responded, however, bolstered by a hat trick from freshman Max Wiesner. Not only did Colorado tie the game at 13 apiece, but briefly took a 14-13 lead with just over two minutes to play. The Lopes tied it back up with 1:30 remaining before Ekeroth sunk the game-winner.
