Allan Named to IMLCA Board
BALTIMORE – The Intercollegiate Men’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IMLCA), the premier coaches organization for the development and growth of the game, elected Mike Allan as a member of its Board of Directors on Tuesday.
Allan, the head coach at UC Santa Barbara, will act as the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association’s (MCLA) representative to the board. The IMLCA Board of Directors is charged with tackling many of the issues confronting the sport of lacrosse along with promoting the integrity of the game.
“It’s an honor to represent the MCLA and be a part of such an outstanding organization as the IMLCA,” Allan said. “I look forward to being a part of the positive influence that the IMLCA has on our game.”
As the MCLA representative, Allan will be tasked with providing the IMLCA board an insight into the non-varsity coaching realm along with participating in initiatives to enhance the game at every level of the sport.
“It’s important for the IMLCA to have a knowledgeable, experienced MCLA representative on our board and Mike certainly fits that bill,” said IMLCA president J.B. Clarke. “The MCLA and its coaches have been on the front lines of growing our sport, so it’s only natural to have them represented.”
Allan, a 1998 graduate of Princeton where he was a member of the lacrosse team, started his coaching career at UCLA in 1999 before joining UC Santa Barbara as its head coach in 2003. After five years with the Gauchos, Allan joined the staff at NCAA Division I Towson University, where he was an assistant coach for three years.
