Stanford Opens Coach Search
PALO ALTO, Calif. -- The Stanford University men's lacrosse program has opened its search for a head men's lacrosse coach.
JOB PURPOSE
The Department of Athletics, Physical Education, and Recreation (DAPER) is currently accepting applications for the position of head lacrosse coach. This position will report to the Associate Director of Competitive Sports. The head coach position is a contract position and is responsible for the administration and growth of a highly competitive MCLA and Western Collegiate Lacrosse League team. The head coach is responsible for all on the field operations, as well as all institutional policies.
Essential duties include player and team development; planning and administration of practice and game day requirements; design and implementation of practice schedules and training schemes; directing and supervising assistant and volunteer coaches; and assisting with team management, recruiting, budget management, scheduling, team travel, personnel management, equipment/apparel management, and alumni/friends of the program relationship management.
The philosophy of the Club Sports program is to emphasize student leadership and participation. The coach/instructor/volunteer should limit his/her contributions to those involving coaching skills and knowledge and are encouraged to assist with team leadership and membership development.
CORE DUTIES
1. Implement team philosophy and strategy for excellence on the field.
2. Work closely with the rest of the coaching staff to instruct players on team concepts.
3. Assist with daily practice planning, game preparation, coordinating games, film and film exchanges, recruiting and team fundraisers
4. Attend all practices and games, including travel.
5. Assist team captains in developing a preseason training regimen, including fall practices
6. Support a team atmosphere that emphasizes both athletics and academics.
7. Assist club officers in managing logistical and planning details of team activities and competition.
8. Constructively instruct members on skills and technique.
9. Ensure safety of all team members, coaches and equipment is the top priority at all times
10. Work collaboratively with team officers and the Club Sports administrators to develop and achieve program priorities
11. Assist officers and team members in achieving recruiting goals
12. Support fundraising efforts for ongoing operation of the club sports program
13. Represent the team in regional or national meetings with other coaches or organizations
14. Enforce and comply with all policies and procedures established by Stanford University policy and procedures, Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation (DAPER) Student Activities and Leadership (SAL), and Associated Students of Stanford University (ASSU) policy and procedures, while serving as a positive role model for the program and Stanford University.
15. Responsible for the enforcement of rules, policies, and procedures as outlined in the Club Sports Handbook as well as all duties associated with coaching a collegiate club program.
16. Report any policy violations to supervisor immediately
17. Interface regularly with Stanford Club Sports and other offices of the University.
18. Represent the University in a positive fashion.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
• Valid California non-commercial Class Driver’s license.
• Current CPR, AED and First Aid
• All coach-specific training and certifications required by DAPER.
• Any certifications required by the league or national governing body.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma and a minimum of three years collegiate or professional coaching and/or playing experience required; Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred; head coaching experience preferred.

• Administrative Proficiency - Computer literacy with common office applications as well as appropriate use of social media required.

COMPENSATION
$25,000-$50,000 annually for the duration of the practice and competition season. Commensurate with experience. This appointment is contingent upon the continuing availability of funds for the position and upon satisfactory work performance.
