UT-Dallas Announces Staff
DALLAS - The University of Texas-Dallas men's lacrosse team has announced its staff for the 2018 season.
Head Coach: Richard Schwartz
Schwartz, a University of Maryland graduate, takes over the Comets with over 25 years of coaching experience. He's held numerous coaching positions in Baltimore County and has since made his way to Texas and brought a solid lacrosse background with him.
Schwartz has coached in Texas for eight years and was most recently the varsity head coach at Lovejoy High School in Dallas. Schwartz brings with him a high-intensity style that specializes in fast pace, high production offenses and conservative, intelligent defenses.
Offensive Assistant: Casey Glad
Glad, a Dallas native and UT-Dallas alumni, comes in as a first-year coach. Having played at Highland Park, Catholic University and UTD, Glad brings a high-level playing experience and knowledge that will help boost the offense.
In his senior season at UTD, Glad led the nation in scoring as he totaled 105 points, scoring 88 goals and averaging 9.5 ppg, which earned him an Honorable Mention All-American nod. He also led the Comets to their first-ever playoff appearance in program history.
Defensive Assistant: Roderick Mayberry
Mayberry, a graduate of the UT-Austin, enters his third season with the Comets. While at UTD, Mayberry has totaled a record of 22-4 and helped lead the Comets to back-to-back conference title game appearances. As the defensive coaching leader for the Comets, Mayberry's defenses have shined, allowing only 6.9 ppg in 2016 and 5.5 ppg in 2017.
As a player, Mayberry was an Honorable Mention All-American for the Longhorns. He appeared in two national tournaments with Texas in three years. Mayberry was also a varsity athlete for UT, playing football under Mack Brown for a season.
Defensive Assistant: Dexter Goode
Goode is the longest-tenured coach for UTD. He enters his fourth season, accumulating a 31-6 record. While at UTD, Goode has has helped the Comets make three playoff appearances in as many years with two conference title game appearances.
Goode has performed in different roles as a coach at UTD, helping with scouting and game-planning. Other roles include financial management of equipment and travel along with production planning.
