TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- The Florida State lacrosse team is proud to announce the hiring of Patrick Teubner as head coach for the 2018 season.
Teubner is a former University of Maryland, Anne Arundel Community College and German national team player and brings 34 years of lacrosse experience to the Seminoles' program.
Teubner spent the past two seasons as the defensive coordinator and strength and conditioning coach at Northeast-AA High School in Pasadena, Md. The Eagles finished the 2017 with an 11-7 record and participated in the region final for the first time in 10 years. Teubner was recently named the 2017 Anne Arundel County 4/3/2/1 Assistant Lacrosse Coach of the Year.
A 1989 graduate of the University of Maryland with a bachelor of general studies degree, Teubner lettered in lacrosse. He is a member of the prestigious “M” Club for varsity letter-winners.
Prior to finishing his education and playing career at Maryland, Teubner was a 1987 NJCAA First Team All-American on defense at Anne Arundel (Md.) Community College, graduating with an associate of arts degree in business administration. He also served as a team captain and twice earned a spot on the dean’s list.
Teubner was a member of the 2001 European Champion German national team under Christian Zwickert that went 6-0, beating England twice and winning the European Cup in Cardiff, Wales. The losses were England’s first ever to a European team.
Teubner’s international lacrosse experience continued as he served on the board of directors for the South African Lacrosse Project in 2008-2009. Teubner is credited with overseeing the first fully-equipped lacrosse clinic on the African continent in Vaalwater, South Africa, in 2009.
“One of my most cherished and profound experiences,” says Teubner.
Teubner’s extensive post-collegiate playing experience includes the Greene Turtle LC (Baltimore), MLC (Baltimore), Lakeshore LC (Chicago), Cuervo LC (San Diego), Malibu LC (L.A.) Hollywood LC (L.A.) and Quicksilver LC (L.A.), which won the 2009 California State Post-Collegiate Club championship.
Teubner has brought his vast lacrosse experience to the coaching ranks, which includes being head coach at Glen Burnie (Md.) High School (2015) and head coach of the 8th-grade team at the Annapolis Area Christian School (2013).
In addition, he was been a defensive coordinator, summer camp co-director and event management administrator for Cavs Lax. He was defensive coordinator at Archbishop Spalding (Md.) High School (2012) and volunteer assistant at Immaculata (Pa.) University (2011).
Teubner’s extensive camp and clinic experience also includes a role as a talent evaluator and coach for the Maryland Freestate Games, the Under Armour Underclass All-American game, the Adidas National High School Classic and the Brine National All-American Lacrosse Classic.
Teubner’s strength and conditioning resume includes certifications with the National Academy of Sports Medicine, American Council on Exercise, the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America and has spanned over 25 years. This includes training out of the famed Gold’s Gym in Venice, Calif. Teubner’s clients have included celebrity actors, musicians, athletes and fitness competitors.
Teubner is a 1984 graduate of Annapolis Senior High School, where he was a standout three-sport letter winner (football, basketball, lacrosse) playing for Hall of Fame coaches “Big” Al Laramore and John Brady. He quarterbacked the Panther football team and in his senior year was a state finalist in basketball, helped anchor the state championship team in lacrosse and was a first team all-county selection on defense.
“My varied life experiences includes being a member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and also includes living in six different countries,” Teubner said.
