KSU’s Magro Posts Top Performance
ATLANTA – Sophomore attackman Vinny Magro led Kennesaw State to the SELC championship, earning him the MCLA Division II Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour for the period ending April 22.
In the semifinal contest against Appalachian State, Magro struck for five goals and three assists in the Owls’ 14-11 victory against the Mountaineers.
The next day in the championship game against Florida Gulf Coast, the Suwanee, Ga., product helped Kennesaw rally from an early deficit with two goals and two assists in the 6-5 victory.
For the tournament, Magro posted seven goals and five assists for 12 points, earning him SELC tournament Offensive MVP honors.
“Vinny commands the defense’s attention,” said Kennesaw State coach Alex Gavilla. “If you give him an inch, he can take a mile. Even while dealing with quick slides, double and triple teams, he was still able to get the job done and help bring home an SELC championship.”
For his efforts in earning the Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour, Magro will receive a new Under Armour Command Head – a $100 value. Under Armour is the proud sponsor of the MCLA.
