Humbolt Searching for Head Coach
ARCATA, Calif. -- Humboldt State University is seeking a men's lacrosse head coach for the 2020 season who can start immediately.
The head coach is responsible for the coaching, recruiting, scheduling, scouting, organization, and oversight of the lacrosse team and at least one part-time assistant coach. The head coach must abide by all MCLA and NCAA rules and be able to work with the captains/officers/alumni on the HSU lacrosse team.
Other duties include, but are not limited to: coordinating the development and promotion of the program; organizing and scheduling practice sessions; working with the Sports Club Director and adherence to a fiscal budget. Must attend all practices and games in the fall and spring.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and at least two years’ experience coaching men’s lacrosse or experience playing lacrosse at the college level.
- Attend all campus trainings, practices and games
- A valid driver's license and safe driving history are required.
- Knowledge and understanding of coaching, recruiting and program administration.
- Knowledge of MCLA rules and regulations, as well as thorough knowledge of all aspects of the game of lacrosse.
- Ability to work weekends (games), assists with driving, and maintain a flexible work schedule
- Must have great communication skills and have ability to develop good rapport with students and University staff.
- This is an 11-month position running July 1 - May 31.
Coach Responsibilities
- Attend all campus trainings, practices and games
- Develop and implement practice and game plans
- Work closely with the HSU lacrosse Alumni Association to develop budgets, fund raise, plan travel, assist with driving, manage equipment, and schedule games
- Develop good rapport with students and University staff.
- Enforce the policies and bylaws of the program and the MCLA
- Engage in player recruiting and scouting
- Must be able to travel 1-3 days consecutively for scrimmages, games, and conference meetings
- Recruit and direct additional coaching staff
- Develop and cultivate relationships with HSU alumni and friends of the program
Compensation
A multi-year contract will be negotiated based on experience. The program can not cover relocation costs for this position. Pay will be based on experience. There may be an opportunity for a full-time position on campus or in the town of Arcata.
