SAN FRANCISCO – After earning the top seed at last year’s nationals and advancing to the championship game, California has been picked as the favorite in the Western Collegiate Lacrosse League (WCLL) according to the preseason coaches poll.
The Golden Bears (17-1) were awarded eight of the nine first-place votes, putting them comfortably in the first chair. Cal edged out Cal Poly (8-5), although the Mustangs did grab one first-place marker.
Fresh of its first appearance at the MCLA National Championships, Santa Clara (8-7) is slotted third just ahead of Stanford (9-4).
In its second season back in the WCLL, UC Santa Barbara (2-10) is picked fifth with Dominican (4-7) rounding out the top six.
