GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A lot of people probably expected to see defending national champion South Carolina and RMLC heavyweight Brigham Young in this second round clash.

The Gators and Bulls weren’t having any of it.

The contest between Buffalo and the Gamecocks set the first-round standard, finishing with nearly 5,000 votes cast. It was only recently eclipsed by the second-round tilt between Pitt and Auburn.

No. 25 Bulls took 2,639 votes out of a total of 4,988 for the 5.8 percentage point victory over No. 8 South Carolina.

Buffalo will now tangle with No. 24 Florida.

The Gators waxed No. 9 Brigham Young in their matchup. Florida grabbed 890 of the 1,456 ballots for a comfy 22 percent point win.

The winner of this one will have to go toe-to-toe with the Cinderella Tennessee juggernaut.
