Colorado Opens Head Coach Search
BOULDER, Colo. -- The Colorado men’s lacrosse team is currently accepting applications to fill its vacant head coaching position.
The Buffaloes are currently a member of the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) and the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Conference (RMLC), of which they are the defending conference champions.
The incoming coach will be responsible for leading and collaborating with the student leaders of the men’s lacrosse team. The Colorado men’s lacrosse team is a student-run collegiate sport club at CU Boulder that is consistently ranked among the top programs in the country.
The Buffaloes were previously led by the well-respected John Galvin, who built the program into one of the nation’s best and even captured a national championship in 2014.
Players at the university take this team very seriously, as it requires a high level of commitment; and we are looking for a coach that is comfortable with reciprocating this commitment to the team.
Duties for this job include recruiting student-athletes, organizing and planning games and practices, scheduling, fundraising, and coordinating with assistant coaches. This position spans the full academic year with practices and competitions during the school week as well as typically on the weekends.
This job requires occasional travel during both the fall and spring seasons.
Job Duties
● Responsible for holding athletes and coaches to rules set forth by MCLA and CU Club Sports Office
● Uphold the culture of the CU Men’s lacrosse team by enforcing team guidelines and continuing the tradition of high standards for both athletes and coaches
● Emphasizing the important balance between academics and athletics in the lives of the student-athletes
● Create practice schedules and run practice
● Delegate responsibilities to assistant coaches and student leaders
● Schedule and arrange all competitions
● Coordinate travel plans with Club Sports offices and hosting schools
● Attend all required MCLA and Club Sports Office meetings
● Arrange practice facility use during the school year
● Responsible for seeking out and responding to potential incoming recruits
● Responsible for running team meetings during the year and ensuring athlete eligibility
● Responsible for coordinating with strength and conditioning coaches and scheduling times for athletics
Qualifications
● Education: High school diploma required, Bachelor’s degree preferred
● Coaching experience at the high school level required, collegiate coaching experience preferred (MCLA/NCAA)
● Playing experience at the college level or professional preferred8

Compensation will be determined based on education, experience and qualifications
