Dominican Announces '22 Staff
SAN RAFAEL, Calif. -- The Dominican Athletic Department, Dominican University of California and the Dominican lacrosse team are very excited to announce changes to the 2021-22 coaching staff.
With the departure of Max Kaehler, head coach Sammy Vogel-Seidenberg and Dominican lacrosse did a national search for a new offensive and defensive coordinator. Vogel-Seidenberg would like to thank Kaehler for giving everything to the Dominican lacrosse program and helping to leave it in a better place than when he found it. He will truly be missed.
Casey Hock will return for one more season with the Penguins. Hock recently graduated from Dominican with his masters degree in education, and this year will be focusing more on his future career in coaching and education.
Hock will be transitioning to an assistant offensive coordinator role at Dominican after giving many amazing years at Dominican. Hock will be a huge part of the offense in his last season.
Lukas Baildon will become the new offensive coordinator as well as co-head strength and conditioning coach starting this fall. Baildon brings a lot of experience that will help the Penguins reach the next level.
Before joining the Penguins, Baildon was a graduate assistant coach at Concordia-Irvine, where he earned his Masters in athletic administration and coaching. Although Baildon's first season in California was cut short due to COVID-19, in his second year he helped guide the Eagles to a winning record in 2021, beating a long-time conference rival for the first time in program history and qualifying for the 2021 MCLA Invitational. During this season, he also helped produce five all-Southwestern Regional players.
Grove will become the new defensive coordinator for Dominican this season. Grove brings a lot of experience that will help the Penguin defense reach the next level. Grove joins the Penguins staff from Louisiana, where he was the Head Coach at Tulane University before working as the goalie coach/defensive assistant for the LSA champion LSU.
Grove is also currently the defensive coordinator for the Russian men’s national team.
Being lucky enough to play in 2021 helped gain a lot of experience for this young team and the Penguins are excited to build off their success in the 2020 season and make a run to nationals.
