SAN RAFAEL, CA -- The Dominican men's lacrosse team has announced its schedule for the 2022 campaign.
The Penguins, ranked as high as No. 16 in 2020, will play a 14-game regular season featuring eight opponents ranked in the final 2020 coaches’ poll.
The Penguins travel to Minnesota for the first time to take on University of Minnesota and Western Michigan. After competing in the 2021 season, the Penguins have a home-heavy schedule. With no one in the WCLL or Bay Area playing last season, the road warriors get to be home this season.
The Penguins open the season with back-to-back games against Oregon and Stanford before hitting the road for the big trip to Minnesota.
The Penguins finish their first month with another home matchup against Simon Fraser.
For the first time, the Penguins will be staying home for their spring break and take on four tough opponents at Kennelly Field -- USC, Utah Valley, Brigham Young and New Hampshire.
The Penguins then take on WCLL South opponents UC Santa Barbara and Santa Clara on the road.
WCLL North conference play beings in April with a trip to Nevada. The Penguins play their last home game against Sonoma State, and will end the regular season at Cal.
“After the grind of last season, we learned a lot as a team," said Dominican coach Sammy Vogel-Seidenberg. "We have a few guys using there extra year of eligibility and a strong group of seniors as well as a great incoming freshman class. We have one of the deepest teams in years. We have added 12 new players, including a couple of transfer student-athletes.”
