SELC D-I Players of the Week
(from an SELC release)
The SELC Division I Players of the Week for games played April 4-April 10:
Offensive Player of the Week
Will Halligan, Florida - Freshman, Attack
The Winter Park H.S. product lit up the 'Noles with five points (4g, 1a) in the Sunshine Showdown.
"Will stepped up in a big way today, and he did so on a big stage," said Florida coach Garrett Hanrahan. "Florida-Florida State is always a noteworthy game based on rivalry alone. Add in the fact that we were on the road at historic Bill Harkins Field and that these teams were battling for the top-seed in the SELC South, and the lights shine even brighter.
"We put together four strong quarters in all phases of the game, and Will was the pace car for that effort on the offensive side of the ball."
Defensive Player of the Week
Bronson Reano, Central Florida - Senior, Goalie
The greater Orlando area makes a clean sweep of this week's SELC awards as Bronson Reano of Hagerty H.S. gets the nod on the defensive side. Playing on home turf against South Florida in the War on I-4, the Knights' netminder tallied 15 saves including some clutch stops in the overtime periods. UCF pulled out the triple-overtime win.
