ATLANTA – After guiding Minn.-Duluth to a pair of Top 5 victories over the weekend, Bulldog senior attackman Matthew Friesen earns MCLA Division II Warrior Player of the Week kudos for the period ending April 10.
In a classic UMLC confrontation against No. 3 St. Thomas on Friday night, the Bulldogs took home a narrow, 7-6 victory thanks to four goals from the Lakeville, Minn., native.
Friesen followed that up on Sunday against No. 4 Dayton, registering a hat trick and dishing out a pair of dimes as Duluth stunned the Flyers, 15-12.
For the weekend, Friesen had seven goals and two helpers.
"Matt is a true leader by example and puts in the work necessary off the field so that he can have weekends like this,” said Minn.-Duluth co-coach Ben Blaeser. “I’m happy to see him get rewarded for the grind."
"As a captain, Matt holds himself and his teammates to a high standard, constantly striving to get better,” added co-coach Alex McNamara. ‘Regardless of the season highs or lows, the same level of determination, work ethic and grit is on display. Matt's ability can greatly impact every game."
For his efforts earning the Warrior Player of the Week, Friesen will receive a Warrior Burn XP-O – a $100 value – for his efforts. Warrior is a proud sponsor of the MCLA.
