FAU’s Meola Earns PEARL Award
ATLANTA – After leading Florida Atlantic to a victory over a Division I opponent, Owls junior backstop Nicholas Meola is the MCLA Divison II PEARL Goalie of the Week for the period ending Feb. 12.
The Flemington, N.J., product turned away 14 shots in Florida Atlantic’s 14-8 victory over South Florida on Saturday. His numbers were good enough for a 63.6 save percentage.
“Nick has done a fantastic job for us this year,” said Florida Atlantic coach Stavros Neocleous. “He’s been able to weather the early storm from the opposition and protect our leads late in games.
“Nick is a great communicator and leader for our team. He has been a great asset for our program and is absolutely deserving of this honor.”
For earning the PEARL’s Goalie of the Week, Meola will receive a prize package from Guardian PEARL, a ball that lasts longer than the rest and never greases. Guardian PEARL is the proud partner of the MCLA.
