D-I Poll: Florida Gets Stronger
ATLANTA – For the second-straight week, Florida is the top dog in the New Balance MCLA Division I Weekly Coaches Poll, which was released on April 12.
The Gators (12-1) finished their regular season in a most satisfying fashion, beating archrival and No. 14 Florida State (10-4). Florida, which grabbed 22 of the 27 first-place votes, has earned the top seed out of the South subdivision in the upcoming SELC tournament.
Virginia Tech (11-2) remained in the second spot, boosted by three first-place votes, after taking down No. 10 Concordia (7-4) over the weekend.
There are a pair of teams tied in the third position. Liberty (11-2) and Georgia (12-1) received the same total points, with the Flames garnering a first-place marker. The Bulldogs are the top-seeded team out of the North in the SELC tournament while Liberty has already wrapped up the top seed out of the North for the ALC playoffs.
Boston College (6-1) rounds out the Top 5, aided by the remaining top ballot, and will get a stiff test on Friday when they entertain crosstown rival and No. 13 Northeastern (7-3) on Friday night.
Colorado State (5-5) is escorted out of the poll this week to make way for No. 21 Texas (6-1).
