Indiana’s Frey Grabs Warrior Award
ATLANTA – After propelling Indiana to a 5-0 record with a pair of thrilling non-conference victories, Hoosier sophomore attackman Carson Frey is the MCLA Division I Warrior Player of the Week for the period ending Feb. 25.
Indiana opened the week with a neutral site game in Pittsburgh against Buffalo. The Hoosiers found themselves trailing the Bulls by two heading into the final stanza, but thanks to a couple of Frey’s eight goals on the afternoon, Indiana was able to post the 14-12 victory.
The Hoosiers encountered host Pitt on Sunday and again Indiana was caught in a taut battle. Frey struck for another five goals to give IU the marvelous, 14-13 triumph.
On the trip, the Warren, N.J., product amassed 13 goals along with an assist and eight ground balls.
“Carson was instrumental in both victories this past weekend,” said Indiana coach Brent Balek. “His athleticism, skill and vision make him a well-rounded player with the natural instinct to score.
“He created scoring opportunities dodging and feeding while forcing turnovers on the ride.”
For his efforts earning the Warrior Player of the Week, Frey will receive a Warrior Burn XP2-O – a $120 value. Warrior is a proud sponsor of the MCLA.
