Santa Clara Opens Head Coach Search
SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- The Santa Clara University men's lacrosse program is accepting resumes for the position of head coach for the 2024-2025 academic year and beyond. Santa Clara is a member of the Western Collegiate Lacrosse League (WCLL) of the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA).
The lacrosse team is a program focused on the development of its players on and off the field. The head coach is expected to push the student-athletes to be the best versions of themselves and assist them to become better players and members of the Santa Clara community.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Represent the University in the highest manner by respecting the program, team, and opponents while honoring Santa Clara University and the game.
- Required to attend all daily practices and games, both home and away.
- Develop and implement comprehensive training programs that focus on player skill development, tactical understanding, and physical conditioning.
- Lead and supervise all daily practice planning, game preparation, coordinating game film and film exchanges, recruiting, parent and alumni liaison.
- Recruit and train assistant coaching staff.
- Implement a cohesive team philosophy and strategy that focuses on teamwork, respect and sportsmanship.
- Instruct players on individual and team offensive and defensive concepts.
- Facilitate a competitive and team-oriented atmosphere during practices and games.
- Duties/Responsibilities are based on yearly length of service.
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Understanding of the MCLA and ability to work within its rules and regulations.
- Understand the framework and philosophy of Santa Clara University and the Club Sports Program. Review the Club Sports Handbook
- Strong background in the sport of lacrosse; knowledge of NCAA lacrosse rules and regulations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with Coaching Staff, SCU Club Sports Administrators, Team leaders and athletes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Competitive collegiate playing and coaching experience.
- Undergraduate degree.
Pay Rate
Competitive. Commensurate with experience.
